Synergistic Occlusion of Doxorubicin and Hydrogels in CaCO3 Composites for Controlled Drug Release

Extensive exploration is required to deploy mineralization as a tool develop low-cost yet efficient sustained drug release systems. Unlike previous studies which directly incorporated components in mineralized products, we propose an emerging approach synthesizing drug-loaded CaCO3 composites, relying on the synergistic occlusion of molecular solutions comprising both alginate hydrogel matrices and associated (doxorubicin) course mineralization. Independent tools including scanning electron microscope adsorption isotherm were employed characterize lyophilized led conclusion that anticancer doxorubicin (DOX) was uniformly dispersed solution.
